Nancy O'Dell's career in broadcasting began as an anchor and journalist for WPDE-TV Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. In the following years, she worked as a the morning news anchor as well as a the crime reporter at WCBD TV. When she was in Charleston O'Dell's reports regarding the police's lenient approach towards DUI cases caused a State Law Enforcement Division investigation that resulted in states authorities again releasing the strictest guidelines regarding the cases. The Associated Press honored Ms. O'Dell with its Best Report of the Years award in the entirety of South Carolina Media.
